Cruising with Captain Cook
Captain Cook Cruises has added a fourth
state-of-the-art $2.6 million catamaran to its
fleet with the recent launch of Violet
Fuel efficient, eco-friendly, and equipped
with the latest technologies to reduce her
carbon footprint, Violet McKenzie is a new
generation, 24 metre Rocket catamaran that
will join her sister vessels Elizabeth Cook,
Mary Reibey and Annabelle Rankin on
All four of these new vessels feature a
main passenger cabin seating 116
passengers with additional outdoor seating
for a further 82 passengers. Larger vessels in
the Captain Cook Cruises fleet have also
benefitted from a multi-million dollar
refurbishment program. Flagship vessel “MV
Sydney 2000” has undergone a complete
refurbishment of all three dining levels, plus
the outdoor sun deck. MV Sydney 2000
seats up to 660 passengers.
Dockside Pavilion took the Sydney events scene by storm in 2014. Anchored on a floating
pontoon at Convention Wharf in Darling Harbour it features floor-to-ceiling windows and an
outdoor terrace that spans the length of the structure.
With state-of-the-art lighting technology generating colour schemes that graduate from
vibrant tones to warm hues to whimsical washes, Dockside Pavilion’s nightly light show is
rapidly gaining popularity with locals and visitors as a ‘must-see’ Sydney attraction.
Combining more than 1400 metres of pillar-less floor space with ceilings that reach eight
metres at its highest point, Dockside Pavilion is the ideal blank canvas for event designers to
bring their grandest concepts to life. With an impressive array of features that include natural
lighting, full catering facilities, and the best LED display technology in Australia, the venue offers
the utmost in versatility. The Dockside Group’s newest venue has seen an array of elite events
including a private function produced by leading Australian event stylist and designer Phillip
Carr, the Sydney launch of Mercedes Benz’s next-generation C-Class Series, the Project
Futures Stella Fella Charity Black Tie Ball, The Australian Beauty Awards, the NRL Grand Final
Luncheon, The Australian Hotels Association Awards, Business Chicks Rachel Zoe and Seth
Godin, Walkleys Foundation 2014 Awards, and numerous Broadcast and Television Awards.
New beginning for Four Points
Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, Darling Harbour has embarked on a $180 million
redevelopment project bringing new event space to the city and spearheading the revitalisation
of the precinct as Australia’s leading meetings destination. Sitting at the heart of Darling
Harbour’s revitalisation project, the hotel is adding 222 new guest rooms plus 4800 square
metres of additional meeting options to the current portfolio of 683 rooms and event space.
The new 4800sqm of pillar-less convention, exhibition and meeting space will bring a long-
awaited, fresh and versatile venue space to Sydney’s vibrant CBD area, addressing the current
shortage of event space in the city. Designed with floor to ceiling glass to maximise natural light
and uninterrupted water views of Darling Harbour, the new event space will include two
ballrooms with seating up to 1100 theatre-style, 11 breakout and meeting rooms, dedicated
pre-function space and state-of-the-art audio visual technology. Bar Eleven, Four Points by
Sheraton Sydney’s open rooftop bar with breathtaking views over the harbour, will continue to
operate and provide guests with an alternative outdoor venue for special occasions, meetings
and events. This exciting extension project will be complete by mid-2016 when a total of 23
distinctive conference and event spaces and 905 guest rooms will be unveiled.
