John Galea has been appointed security
manager of the Melbourne Convention and
Exhibition Centre (MCEC). He will play an
instrumental role in assessing risk, developing
strategy and managing the venue’s key
security contractor relationships. This newly-
created role highlights the importance MCEC
places on the safety of its employees, visitors
and the local community.
SOFITEL AUCKLAND VIADUCT HARBOUR
Jeremy Healy has been appointed to the
position of general manager of the Sofitel
Auckland Viaduct Harbour. First joining
AccorHotels in November 2011 as hotel
manager at Sofitel Melbourne On Collins, Mr
Healy’s most recent position was at The
Como Melbourne MGallery by Sofitel as
Norwegian Cruise Line
Holdings senior vice
president and managing director Asia Pacific
has been appointed as the new chairman of
Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA)
Australasia. Mr Odell replaces Gavin Smith,
who is relocating to the UK following his
recent appointment to senior vice president
international for Royal Caribbean.
STYLING & THEMING SPECIALIST
AV PARTNERS HAMILTON ISLAND
Emma Lilly has been appointed styling and
theming specialist for AVPartners on
Hamilton Island. The role will see Ms Lilly
style a variety of events on Hamilton Island
including developing creative event concepts,
producing style guides, working closely with
clients to execute their vision, and helping
take AVPartners’ “already amazing reputation
for flawless events to the next level”.
Jeremy Samuels has been appointed general
manager of the Ibis Adelaide. Joining
AccorHotels in 2012 as director of revenue at
the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, he diversified
to his most recent role as executive assistant
manager at Mercure Sydney Central.
CROWN METROPOL PERTH
Damian O’Donnell has been appointed general
manager of Crown Metropol Perth. Bringing a
wealth of experience in the hotels and
hospitality fields, Mr O’Donnell has recently
moved to Perth from Melbourne after spending
time as hotel manager of the five-star Crown
Towers Melbourne. Prior to this he has held
integral positions internationally and
domestically with companies including
Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia,
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Evason
Hideaway, Hayman Island Resort, Four
Seasons Hotels and Resorts, The Gore Hotel
London, Princess Cruises Limited and Rydges.
CROWNE PLAZA NEWCASTLE
Donna Forbes has been appointed business
development director of the Crowne Plaza
Hunter Valley and Crowne Plaza Newcastle.
Ms Forbes will be responsible for securing
business primarily within the business events
market, leveraging her wealth of knowledge
Nathan Frost has been appointed to the
position of general manager at the Novotel
Canberra. Mr Frost joined AccorHotels in
1998, working in the food and beverage
