Award-winning tour company SEIT Outback Australia has recently launched a tour which
enables business event groups to gain traditional owner insights into the magic and mystery
that is Uluru.
SEIT PATJI is an Aboriginal guided tour escorted by the traditional custodians of Uluru and
provides an opportunity to learn about the oldest living culture in the world. Sammy Wilson,
whose traditional family name is Uluru, is an owner and important elder in the community of
Mutitjulu, found at the base of the monolith. With more than 20 years’ experience in tourism,
Sammy has hosted many important visitors to Uluru in the past, including royalty and global
celebrities, and is a wonderful ambassador for Aboriginal people and his country.
His company, Uluru Family Tours has partnered with SEIT Outback Australia to offer visitors a
unique opportunity to visit Patji, south of Uluru and spend time on Aboriginal land outside the
Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park boundaries
Passengers are conveyed in a 4WD vehicle along remote bush tracks to visit traditional owner
homelands not previously accessible to tourists.
Integrating Uluru Events
Planners can select from an extensive array of events being held at Uluru and Voyages Ayers
Rock Resort in 2017, to add an element of surprise or a special highlight to a conference
program or an incentive itinerary.
The Uluru Meeting Place venues and the resort’s diverse accommodation options are the
perfect complement for an event calendar which caters for varied tastes and interests.
The fabulous Field of Light installation currently set up in the desert surrounding Uluru, has now
been extended until March 2018. Other annual recurring events include: the Tjungu Indigenous
Cultural Festival (April 22-25, 2017), the Uluru Camel Cup (May 26-7, 2017), the Australian
Outback Marathon (July 29, 2017) and the Uluru Astronomy Weekend (October 20-22, 2017).
Each offers a fascinating and diverse line-up of events to enhance a business event.
The world-renowned Australian Chamber Orchestra will also make a welcome return to Uluru
from June 2-4 for a series of concerts led by Richard Tognetti. With health and wellness

Connecting with community
Baillie Lodges, operators of Longitude 131°
at Uluru, has recently expanded its
partnership with the remote Indigenous
community of Pukatja (also known as
Ernabella). For five days in mid-November,
the luxury lodge invited celebrated artists
from the community to create their unique
artwork in the lodge’s Dune House. It
provided a priceless opportunity for in-house
guests to meet the artists as they worked,
and enjoy invaluable cultural exchange. It
was the fourth artist group that the lodge has
welcomed in the past year.
Longitude 131° has been working closely
with Ernabella Arts since 2014,
commissioning artworks for the lodge and
also conducting guest expeditions to the
community. The expanded partnership will
now provide an additional $100,000 over the
next two years, with a key component being
the funding of an education program to
enable ceramics training for young and old of
the Pukatja community.
Guests staying at Longitude 131° have been
enjoying the recent addition of new balconies
on the luxury ‘tents’, with the contemporary
space including day beds, armchairs and
fireplaces. A special outback touch sees
bespoke luxury swags laid out each evening on
the balconies, providing guests with the option
to sleep under starlit outback skies. m
