Opening in 2017, MSocial boasts one of the best locations in New Zealand. Nestled on the water’s
edge of the Waitemata Harbour in Auckland’s CBD, and next to the bustling Viaduct restaurant
precinct, all 190 rooms have stunning views of the water. MSocial brings to New Zealand a new
generation in hospitality, joining MSocial Singapore in this premium accommodation segment.
One of nine Grand Millenniums worldwide, a business event hotel and a luxury brand, Grand
Millennium Auckland is the largest hotel in New Zealand, well-known for its attention to detail
with the worldwide conference and incentive traveller.
Rotorua, Taupo and Queenstown are some of New Zealand’s best known conference
destinations. These regions are unique within tourism and known for their geothermal activity,
spa wellbeing health facilities and adventure activities. Queenstown hosts the most southern
wineries in the southern hemisphere, the region being well known for its pinot noir due to cold
winters and hot long summer days. In Rotorua, Volcanic Hill Winery has certainly made
delegates think “what can be achieved in New Zealand is extraordinary”.
The freshness of the food, and the marine nature of New Zealand, has had event organisers
showcasing local products to delegates and making them part of the program, whether it be an
incentive or a business conference. Millennium Hotels and Resorts is known for its exceptional
event catering, and that is why we see so many conferences using the hotels in these
destinations for their gala events, whether on-site or off-site.
From the Bay of Islands at the top of the North Island, to Te Anau at the bottom of the South
Island there are 16 hotels. More and more Millennium is seeing its closest western seaboard
neighbours venturing across the Tasman to conference in the regional towns.
Some of New Zealand’s most famous icons are found in these regions, and Millennium is
seeing more Australian event planners building programs around New Zealand icons. They are
taking advantage of this country’s natural beauty – as Kiwis have long done – whether it be a
half day adventure program to Tane Mahuta or an evening function at a local cheesemaker
complemented with local wines.
The regional towns of New Zealand are not mainstream; they still provide accommodation
bargains. Delegates are delighted to learn something new. They love the ease and the warmth
of New Zealanders and their hospitality. Millennium Hotels and Resorts are well aware of the
need to create the difference, the importance of its local personnel in the regions where
business travellers are short of time. 2017 has seen the company develop drive programs and
activities around encouraging tourism within the regional destinations. m
Millennium Hotels and Resorts will be well
represented at AIME 2017, with senior managers
from South East Asia, China, the UAE and of
course New Zealand, where the hotel chain has
20 hotels and five of its eight global brands.
