New Auckland Conventions general manager sales, Marija Gecan, who just
recently joined the team, says the new catering partners have been chosen for their
exceptional cuisine and extensive experience.
“Staging more than 700 events a year, we are focused on offering more choice and
innovation,” Ms Gecan says.
“Our priority is to provide our clients with the best experience and highest-quality service
possible across our diverse portfolio of iconic Auckland venues.”
The Kitchen c/o SKYCITY is part of the SKYCITY group, and has one of the biggest kitchens

The enhancement of Auckland Conventions’ catering services follows a highly successful
2016/17 year that saw Auckland Conventions’ venues serve as entertainment hubs for major
events such as the British & Irish Lions Tour in June-July 2017 and Semi-Permanent, the
international creative services symposium in August 2017.
And as the operator of nine landmark venues including the ANZ Viaduct Events Centre, Aotea
Centre, Auckland Art Gallery, Auckland Town Hall, Bruce Mason Centre, The Civic and QBE

Ms Gecan joines Auckland Conventions Venues & Events from the Stamford Plaza Auckland
where she was general manager following two years as the director of sales and marketing. She
was instrumental in overseeing all aspects of the property including maximisation of financial
performance, guest satisfaction, and staff development within established quality standards.
In her new role she is responsible for sales team leadership, driving revenue as well as
strategic client management and general management responsibilities with a primary focus on
proactive and reactive sales. m
REBRANDS TO CORDIS
The Langham, Auckland
rebranded to Cordis, Auckland
on November 1, making it the
first in the Pacific region for this
new upper upscale brand by
Langham Hospitality Group.
The 411-room hotel joins other Cordis hotels
already in operation in Hong Kong, Shanghai
and Beijing, with future hotels in destinations
such as Bali, Phuket, Nanjing, Hangzhou and
Ningbo, Donqian Lake.
“The launch of Cordis Auckland marks a
significant milestone in our long-term growth
plan to introduce Cordis Hotels and Resorts
here in the Pacific,” says Simon Manning, chief
sales and marketing officer of Langham
“New Zealand attracted international arrivals of
over 3.3 million last year (2015/2016) and the
number is expected to continue to grow by
over 10 per cent annually. Based on the size of
