Home' micenet eMag : micenet June 2018 Contents Q. Now in its second year, what will be
different at Get Global this time around?
A. Donna: We are retaining the main
Get Global differences, with buyers free to
walk the exhibition floor and meet with those
sellers they are interested in, without a list of
pre-arranged appointments to stick to. But
we are introducing some great new initiatives.
The main change we are excited about is the
Q. A delicious addition will be the
interesting lunch options within each
geographical zone. Guests will roam around
the globe sampling cuisine specific to each
A. Gary: Through our partnership with
ICMI, we have been able to secure some of
the most intelligent, inspirational and
vivacious minds in business, as well as a few
we think will have the crowd roaring with
laughter! We are kicking off event day with
best-selling author and yogi, Lola Berry, who
will open Inspiration Corner at 8am with an
intimate Q&A at the Get Up and Go
Breakfast. She will be followed throughout
the day by a host of global entrepreneurs,
travel gurus and business brains.
Q. Were the changes/add-ons made
because of attendee feedback?
A. Donna: Absolutely! We listened to
what attendees told us last year. We knew
we wanted to add an educational element
but wanted to deliver it in a Get Global way.
As Inspiration Corner is located right on the
exhibition floor, buyers and sellers alike will be
able to listen and be motivated without
leaving the event.
Q. How many exhibitors are you anticipating and how does this compare with your
inaugural event in 2017?
A. Gary: So far, we have 90 per cent of 2017 exhibitors returning for a second year. Hong
Kong Tourism Board, CINZ, Hobbiton Movie Set, Hawaiian Airlines, Air New Zealand, Santa
Monica Travel and Tourism and Tourism New Zealand are just a few. We are expecting over 160
exhibitors this year, an increase of almost 40 per cent on 2017.
Q. Can you give us an example of who is exhibiting?
A. Donna: We’ve added many new exhibitors this year, like Tahiti Tourisme, Qantas,
Singapore Tourism, Westin, Marriott Fiji Hotels, Hawaii Tourism, Tourism Fiji, NYC & Co, Virgin
Australia, Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa, Accor Hotels New Zealand, Fiji & French
Polynesia, Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa. It’s great to see some of these brands using
Get Global as their key marketing platform for this year.
Q. What about visitor numbers? How are registrations looking?
A. Gary: We only opened buyer registrations last week, and so far, they have exceeded
even our expectations. With free registration, including entry to the Get Up & Go Breakfast, the
Inspiration Corner, as well as lunch, morning and afternoon tea, and barista coffee throughout
the day, the event culminates with the cocktail function where exhibitors will be giving away
huge prizes as well as prizes throughout the day. You have to be there and the more exhibitors
buyers visit the more chances of winning these fab prizes including air tickets, accommodation
and experiences. Buyers can be rest assured their time out of the office will be worth it.
By the time our doors open on Friday, July 20, we expect to be hosting over 400 buyers.
Q. What do you think Get Global provides that other industry events don’t?
A. Gary: Our experience and history within the MICE and travel industry provided us with a
great base in which to develop the inaugural event. By being dynamic enough to actually listen
to what our industry peers need, has enabled us to mould and develop the event this year.
Donna: Not being locked into timed appointments or a strict arrival time to commit to, buyers
can be flexible throughout the day and make the most of the new and existing international
products, arranged in geographical zones.
Q. How can people get involved?
A. Visit us at the Buyer Registration page or Exhibitor Registration Page for more
information or to register - www.getglobal.com.au. Or find us on Facebook (@getglobalau),
Instagram and Twitter (@GetGlobalExpo). Buyer registrations are now open and if you want to
attend our Lola Berry Get Up & Go Breakfast, sign-up when you register for the event. m
